Product Development & Remote Work - Can 3D Printing Make it Easier? - 3DChimera

Product Development & Remote Work - Can 3D Printing Make it Easier?

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic across the world, product development and engineering teams have had to develop new ways of collaborating.

Over the past few weeks, the team here at 3DChimera has seen an increase in requests for 3D printing duplicate objects to send to multiple locations.  While we are happy to help organizations with the request, it got us thinking....

Unsurprisingly, the answer has been staring us in the face the whole time!  If our customers had access to affordable, repeatable, easy-to-use and reliable 3D printers, then they could print in multiple locations simultaneously.

Historically, this has been a challenge for 3D printing because most 3D printers required a trained operator to manage the printer.  As the technology has evolved, 3D printers are getting easier and easier for the layman to use while simultaneously becoming more and more reliable.

Currently, we use the Makerbot METHOD X for most of our engineering prototypes for these exact reasons.  This 3D printer is relatively new to the market, but it punches far above its weight when it comes to its capabilities and ease of use. It has the ability to produce parts in engineering grade materials, with dissolvable support for complex geometries at the push of a button...even from an app on your cell phone!

Have you considered placing 3D printers at a few distributed locations to support your team during this self-isolation period?  It could be a fantastic way to increase efficiency as we find new ways to work and collaborate together.
